The Takapuna Summer Camp Experience
Takapuna Summer Camp is a new chapter in a tradition that began years ago with our St Joseph’s camps. While the name and experience have evolved, the heart of camp remains the same: creating a place where young people can have an unforgettable summer, grow in faith, and build friendships that last.
As a Life Teen Parish, each year’s camp is shaped around the annual Life Teen theme, bringing faith to life through adventure, community, creativity, and plenty of fun and when we say adventure, we mean it.
At Takapuna Summer Camp, getting messy is part of the experience. Each year brings bigger challenges, crazier obstacle courses, muddier games, and new ways to get outside your comfort zone. Expect to run, climb, compete, laugh, get covered in mud, and probably wonder how you ended up there in the first place!
But camp isn’t all go. There’s plenty of time to slow down, hang out, and do what you love. Challenge your friends to a game of volleyball, ultimate frisbee, or touch. Head to the Art Barn to create, make music, get crafty, or simply spend time with friends. There’s space to be competitive, creative, adventurous, relaxed and everything in between.
Whether you’re diving into an obstacle course, making memories with your mates, trying something completely new, or simply enjoying the freedom of a summer week away, Takapuna Summer Camp is an experience like no other.
Come ready for adventure. Come ready to get messy. Come ready to discover something new.
At Takapuna Summer Camp, the adventure goes beyond the games. In the midst of all the excitement, there is space to pause, go deeper, and encounter something greater.
Throughout the week, campers will hear from inspiring speakers from our parish and beyond, bringing fresh perspectives, real stories, and a whole lot of energy to the camp experience. Through engaging talks, honest conversations, and uplifting praise and worship, teens are invited to explore what faith looks like in the reality of their everyday lives with all its questions, challenges, joys, and possibilities.
There is also plenty of space to simply be still. Campers will have opportunities for personal prayer, guided prayer experiences, group reflection, and quiet moments with God. These are moments to step away from the noise, listen, and discover that prayer isn’t just something we do at church it’s a way of growing in a real and personal relationship with Jesus.
Because camp isn’t just about what happens while you’re here. It’s about what you take home with you. Our hope is that every camper leaves Takapuna with new friendships, unforgettable memories, a deeper faith, and a rhythm of prayer that continues long after the tents come down and camp is over.
